July is the hottest month here in Colorado, but it does not have to be miserable! Here are 3 of my favorite essential oils to keep you cool.
1) Peppermint essential oil:
Peppermint has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and many other properties. The property I want to talk about today is its circulatory properties.
Peppermint works with your circulatory system to help cool down your body. Peppermint aids your bodies response to heat making it so that your body increases sweat glands to help you cool down. Peppermint can be applied to the back of you neck, wrists, bottoms of feet, behind your ears, or across your chest. Peppermint can be applied “neat” (meaning without a carrier oil) in most cases. Peppermint should be used with cause during pregnancy, ask your doctor BEFORE use if pregnant.
2)Wintergreen essential oil:
Wintergreen is a very powerful oil and a great muscle relaxer. During these hot summer days wintergreen is AMAZING in a diffuser. Wintergreen helps to cool down the air, lift the spirits, and make bring a bright happy cool feeling to any room.
Wintergreen is extremely powerful and should NEVER be applied to the skin with out a carrier oil. Wintergreen pairs nicely with peppermint in a diffuser or in a roller bottle with a carrier oil to be used when you get hot.
3)Spearmint essential oil:
Spearmint has cooling properties for the body and works well in a diffuser or in a roller bottle blend. I like to make a cooling roller blend for summer:
10 drops Peppermint
10 drops Spearmint
5 drops Wintergreen
Using these tips will help keep you cool this July!

*all essential oils should be tested on a small area of the body like your wrists before applying to larger areas to see if you have an allergic reaction. If pregnant ALWAYS consult a doctor before using essential oils.
